Understand the fight in sixty seconds.
One rule drives DuelSMP: your base is protected while you live. Die, and the boundary drops for 30 minutes. Everything else follows from that.
Watch the claim break.
The same loop every fight produces: secure ground, an attacker at the wall, one death, and the boundary is gone. Thirty minutes later it seals again, whether or not anything is left inside.

Claims
Stake land and it is yours while you live. A claim boundary blocks doors, containers and your vault to anyone outside your team. Bigger ambitions mean bigger claims, and more wall to defend.
PvP
Combat is on everywhere outside spawn. Kills, deaths and duels are recorded on the board. There is no safe lane. The only protection a fight respects is the one you're standing inside.
The window
Die anywhere on the server and every claim you hold drops its boundary for 30 minutes. The timer is public. Enemies watching it will come. That is the point.
Raiding
While a claim is open, anyone may walk in and take what they find. Nothing is locked, nothing is refunded. When the window closes the claim reseals and whatever is left is still yours.
Teams
Form a team to share claims and cover each other's windows. Team standings sit on the same board as players. A crew that holds through a raid is worth more than any single duel.
Economy
Kills and playtime feed a balance that counts toward the wealth board. The shop sells ranks and perks, never raid protection. Nobody can buy their way out of a window.
